The Times Higher Education Impact Ranking assesses a university’s performance in research, teaching, and effect, was announced on Thursday (1/6).
The assessment was associated to 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Untar managed to obtain ranks in three categories: Quality Education rank 401-600 category; Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure rank 401-600 category; and Partnerships for the Goals rank 1001+ category.

The Quality Education category is associated to the second SDGs goal, which is “zero hunger”, assesses university’s research related to hunger, food sustainability learning, commitment to overcome food waste, and overcome hunger at campus and local level. Data was taken from publication outcomes indexed between 2017 and 2021. There are 647 universities from 81 countries that is ranked in this category.

Meanwhile, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure category is the ninth SDGs goal, assessed from university’s research on industry and innovation, amount of patent and spin-off companies, and research and industrial revenue. In this category, there are 873 institutions from 87 countries, including Untar.

Furthermore, Untar obtains Partnerships for the Goals category in the THE ranking. The category is associated to the 17th SDGs goal, assesses university’s effort in supporting SDGs through collaborations with other countries, promotion, and data publication.

THE is participated with leading world universities, including Indonesia, as it is the benchmark for the best world’s universities, and published every year.
Untar’s entrance to the THE ranking adds to Untar recognition in international level.
In response to this achievement, Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., IPU., ASEAN Eng. considers this as a very good achievement. In 2023, Untar is ranked in three THE categories, which are education, industry, and partnership. This achievement shows that the implementation of Higher Education Tridarma at Untar has been conducted well and produced outcome beneficial for the society.
“Untar will always improve the quality of management, learning activities, and research and community engagement, which support the success of SDGs,” said Rector. (YS/AW)
