An engineer is obliged to carry out duties by adhering to the engineer’s code of ethics, and strive to increase added value and usability in a sustainable manner with due regard to safety, health, benefit, and welfare of the community and environmental sustainability.
This was emphasized by the Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. when he became the Keynote Speaker in the Working Meeting (Raker) of the Indonesian Mechanical Engineering Cooperation Agency (BKS-TM) which is the Association of Mechanical Engineering Study Programs throughout Indonesia at the Islamic University of Kalimantan Muhammad Arsyad Al Banjari Banjarmasin, Wednesday (24/5).
The Rector of Untar, who also serves as Chairman of the Mechanical Vocational Board of the Indonesian Engineers Association (BKM-PII), conveyed the need for all BKSTM members to pay attention to the Engineering Law Number 11 of 2014 in the learning process, so as to produce Mechanical Engineering Graduates who can work as reliable Mechanical Engineering Engineers and produce various innovations for the advancement of national industry.
According to him, the role of the engineering profession in the education and development of mechanical engineering human resources can be realized through mutual benefit collaboration between BKM-PII, which has 146 mechanical engineering study programs from all over Indonesia as an association of professional mechanical engineers. BKSTM as a forum for cooperation between Indonesian Mechanical Engineering Study Programs and Mechanical Engineering Students through BKM-PII student members. (JS/AW)
