Every citizens’ consciousness actualized through the commitment of respective professions, is a soft power that strengthens the hard power of the nation. On other side, national defense awareness is a nation’s social asset to develop a country to be an advanced nation, with personality and culture parallel to other developed nations in the world. To reach the position, there will be challenges such as radicalism.
The statement was said by Prevention Director of National Counter Terrorism Agency (BNPT) Police Brigadier General R. Ahmad Nurwakhid, S.E., M.M. as one of the speakers in the hybrid Humanities Festival, which aimed to commemorate Heroes Day and to grow nationalism among students, Tuesday (22/11).
He added, radicalism is spread through social media these days. “Do not let the young generation influenced with radicalism, as it is not only a threat to the nation, but it also could ruin the future,” he said.
Aside from BNPT, a representative of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Bariroh Barid emphasized that it is important for young generations to have integrity in national sovereignty. Currently, the threats to national sovereignty are multidimensional, and corruption is one of the threats that might ruin a nation.
The Humanities Festival titled “Building Attitudes Toward National Defense as an Actualization of Love for the Nation” also presented Rector of Untar Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. and Vice Rector Dr. Rasji, S.H., M.H. as speakers.
Rector emphasized the role of young generations in building defense through learning wholeheartedly, broaden knowledge, building networking, using in-country products, avoiding drugs, avoiding violence of any kind, avoiding hoax, and avoiding terrorism.
This festival also presented awards to students with achievements in scientific papers, posters, and videos. This competition was participated by students in order to grow and support the nation in religious, civics, and language studies.
