Untar becomes the host of Indonesian Building Competition (KBGI) XIII 2022. This event is a routine agenda of Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI), National Achievement Center (Puspresnas), The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), held on 18-20 November 2022.

KBGI is a competition that evaluates both the design and construction of a building. This year’s competition was titled “Earthquake Resistant Buildings with Material Innovation to face the Post-Pandemic Era Metropolitan Development”.

Acting Head of Puspresnas Asep Sukmayadi, M.Si. in his closing speech, stated his appreciation to Untar as the host of two national level competitions held by Puspresnas, which are National Student Choir Competition (PSMN) and KBGI XIII 2022.

He added, at least 18 events held by Puspresnas this year, and two of them were held at Untar.

“We must admit that this is a very challenging year, due to the pandemic and the availability of resources. Thanks to Rector and Untar team’s willingness, last PSMN and KBGI were able to be executed well,” stated Asep.

Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. also stated his appreciation to Puspresnas for the trust given to Untar as the host of two national level competitions.

“I hope this collaboration continues in the future, and Untar is very open to be the host of student or other activities held by the government, in this case by Kemendikbudristek, both nationally or regionally,” said Rector.

164 teams from various Indonesian universities have passed administrative and preliminary stages of KBGI 2022. Based on that, eight teams respectively have been selected for steel and concrete building categories. The finalists then compete offline at Universitas Tarumanagara. The board of judges then assess and decides the best five teams of each category.

Untar managed to become one of the best teams for pre-cast concrete multistorey building model special category. Meanwhile, Politeknik Negeri Ujung Pandang became the overall winner.
