Collaboration between Untar, Medcom.id, and 26 Indonesian Universities in Improving Education

Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) became the host of Kick Off Online Scholarship Competition (OSC) 2022 which was established by Medcom.id, Monday (8/8) at Untar Campus I Auditorium. OSC Medcom.id program is participated by 27 best Indonesian national and private universities, providing 539 bachelor’s degree scholarships with a total value up to Rp 45 billion this year alone, making it as the most bachelor’s degree scholarship provided by OSC along with campus partners since the establishment of OSC in 2015.

This first online scholarship competition in Indonesia was initiated in 2015 by Surya Edukasi Bangsa Foundation and news & video site Medcom.id, which was participated by five university partners. In this 8th OSC in 2022, the number of universities participate in, including Untar, becomes 27 private universities along with one national university.

This program was aimed to provide ease of access to Indonesian youth whom would like to continue their studies to bachelor’s and master’s degrees through Indonesian favorite universities scholarships.

In the same occassion, Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, I.P.U, M.M., ASEAN, Eng. stated his delight and appreciation for the opportunity to contribute as a host and partner in OSC 2022 program.

He said, as one of the oldest private universites in Indonesia which held Excellent accreditation, the implementation of education in Untar has its own challenge in providing quality education. Although all the challenged faced, Untar continues to positively contributes for the society, government, and the nation.

“Since 2019, Untar declarated itself through tagline Untar untuk (for) Indonesia, and has increased the number of Untar’s scholarships through various programs, involved in developing regions alongside regional government, schools, universities, industrial sectors, and other partners to develop the nation,” said Rector.

Rector invited all leaders of universities to support this OSC, as it has a noble goal, which is to provide opportunities for Indonesian youth to continue their studies to universities.

The Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim in his speech said that the growth of Indonesia is determined by human resources having knowledge and skill, tough in character and attitude, as well as having the strong will to contribute in improving nation’s lives. In this case, universities, as the closest educational stage to the professional world, become a leaping stone for Indonesia to advance to the future.

“Through the OSC scholarship program which was initiated by Medcom.id, the opportunities for Indonesian youth to continue their studies to universities are wide open. Supported by programs of Independent Campus which give students opportunities to study outside their campus, graduates of universities will be a leading generation able to carry Indonesia to leap into the future,” stated Nadiem.

Head of Editorial Staff Medcom.id Indra Maulana said that Medcom is committed not only in educating the nation through news, information, or educational channel, but also dedicates available resources by continuing to organize OSC and invites high school students to continue their studies through OSC scholarships.

Head of Surya Edukasi Bangsa Foundation and CEO of Media Group M. Mirdal Akib also attended the signing of MoU between Medcom.id as the organizer of OSC with 27 partner universities and the awarding of collaboration certificate to partners.
