Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. became the speaker of a public lecture at Universitas Mahasaraswati (Unmas), Denpasar, Bali on Friday (15/7). Rector of Unmas Dr. Drs. I Made Sukamerta, M.Pd along with the ranks and Academic Community attended the seminar to discuss on Strategic Issues and Governance Challenge of Higher Education Post Covid-19 Pandemic.
Starting the lecture, Prof. Agustinus emphasized that the Permendikbud No. 3 2020 Regarding Higher Education National Standard cannot be separated from the implementation of Higher Education Tridharma, especially in higher education operations. Private Universities must possess distinctive characters, different than other universities, and built upon a certain standard in order to be the foundation of educational system Permendikbud No. 3 2020 has become the foundation for Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) Program which has brought significant changes to the educational system in Indonesia.
To be a leading university, one must be able to withstand changes through creativity, innovation, faith, and willingness. Universities must be responsive to changes and willing to adapt, seek and create opportunities. Three important things needed by a leader in order to effectively create changes are communication, collaboration, and commitment,” said Rector of Untar.
Strong collaboration could build the reputation of a university. “Basically, there is no university able to survive without collaborations. All of them need partners, both internal and external, which give mutual benefit,” said Rector of Untar. Rector also explained that through good collaborations supported with clear regulations as well, a university would be able to build excellence, reputation, and trust in order to create existence and continuity.
Pentahelix collaborations with various stakeholders have become one of Untar strategies to become a leading private university. In its implementations, Untar has collaborated with universities, both national and international, central and regional government, industrial and entrepreneurial world, and communities and society, supported with good relations with media.
In this public lecture, Rector of Untar also explained private universities governance through management of a university, private university workflow, higher education standards, role of foundation, and role of academic community. Rector of Untar emphasized on the importance of sustainability in the management of a university, aside of input, process, output, and outcome. University Management Standard needs regulation, academical guide, tri dharma implementation, partner building, developmental organization and implementation, lecturers, staffs, and students potential utilization, accreditation/certification, and internal quality assurance.
In the end of the lecture, Prof. Agustinus explained that Untar success factors in managing an excellent-accredited private university are commitment of every stakeholder (Foundation, University, Lecturer, Staff, Student), regulations understanding: Internal and External, exemplary leadership, actual contributions from all stakeholders, strategic partnerships, and strong internal and external quality assurance. -TB-
