Untar, in collaboration with the Indonesian Catholic Scholars Association (ISKA), organized a public lecture themed “Reflecting on the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia: Sustaining National Commitment” on Monday (26/8/2024) at the Executive Lounge, Campus I Untar.
In his remarks, Chairman of the Central Presidium of ISKA, Ir. Luky A. Yusgiantoro, B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Spec., Ph.D., stated that the event was held to commemorate the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
“Today, we gather to once again reflect on the national values that were fought for by the nation’s founders, as well as how we can continue to uphold our national commitment in this era full of challenges,” he said.
Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng., was also present as a keynote speaker. During the event, he highlighted various challenges currently faced by Indonesia’s education sector.
In his session titled “Challenges and Opportunities in Indonesian Education,” the Rector emphasized the importance of upholding and practicing the values of Pancasila in everyday life.
“This is an important step in preventing the five major educational sins: sexual violence, bullying, intolerance, corruption, and drug abuse,” he explained.
In addition to the Untar Rector, the public lecture also featured Dr. Donny Yusgiantoro, Chairman of the Public Information Committee, and D. Nicky Fahrizal, an analyst from the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), as speakers. (KJ/YS/KJ)
