Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M. was inaugurated as Rector of Untar for the 2024–2028 term on Thursday (29/8/2024) at the Auditorium of Untar Campus I. The inauguration ceremony was officiated by Chairman of the Tarumanagara Foundation Board Prof. Dr. Ariawan Gunadi, S.H., M.H., and witnessed by Chairman of the Tarumanagara Foundation Board of Trustees Ir. Nanda Widya and Chairman of the Tarumanagara Foundation Supervisory Board Ir. Agussurya Widjaya, M.E., M.B.A.

Previously serving as Dean of Untar’s Faculty of Law (FH), Prof. Amad became Untar’s 13th Rector, succeeding Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng., who had served two consecutive terms from 2016–2020 and 2020–2024.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Tarumanagara Foundation Board expressed optimism and emphasized that under its new leadership, Untar would be better positioned to address the challenges of higher education, particularly in an increasingly globalized world.
“Prof. Amad must lead Untar into a new chapter. His experience and dedication in education are unquestionable. We are confident that under his leadership, Untar will continue to grow and achieve outstanding accomplishments while maintaining the values of integrity, professionalism, and entrepreneurship that form the foundation of this university,” he said.
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration among all members of the academic community in supporting Untar’s vision and mission of becoming a World Class University (WCU) through a high-quality education system that contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Meanwhile, the achievements attained during the previous rector’s tenure will serve as a strong foundation for advancing Untar’s internationalization efforts and other strategic programs. Prof. Amad also reaffirmed his commitment to upholding academic freedom and cultural diversity across the campus community.
“I am confident that Untar will not only endure but continue to thrive. Through innovation and collaboration, we will elevate Untar into a world-class university,” he emphasized.

Biography of Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M.
Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M. was born in Indramayu on February 7, 1967. He earned his Doctoral (S3) degree in Law from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia, and has actively participated in various training programs, courses, and non-formal education in the fields of law, management, and leadership. Prior to his appointment as Rector of Untar, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Law for two terms. Among his scholarly works are National and International Public Air Law and Legal Aspects of Air Transportation for Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims.
In addition to his academic role as a lecturer, he is also a legal practitioner (Advocate and Arbitrator) and holds leadership positions in several legal institutions and professional organizations. These include Chairman of the National Executive Board of the Indonesian Legal Profession Association (DPN-APHI), Chairman of the Indonesian Construction Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution Board (BADAPSKI), Advisor to the Association of Indonesian Law Higher Education Leaders (APPTHI), and Patron of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Association of Doctors of Law (DPP-ADHI).
