The achievement of Trithalia Triarso in winning three medals at the 21st National Sports Week (PON XXI), held in North Sumatra beginning on Wednesday (28/8/2024), has become a source of pride for the Untar academic community. As an alumna of Untar’s Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Thalia’s success demonstrates that the development of talent and non-academic achievements can make meaningful and distinguished contributions.

During the event, which ran through Sunday (1/9/2024), Thalia secured three medals, including one in the Women’s All-Around category, which she won on Thursday (29/8/2024).

Representing Jakarta Province in artistic gymnastics, Thalia had previously competed in PON XX in Papua in 2021, where she also earned several medals. She has furthermore represented Indonesia in international competitions, including the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines and the Singapore Open Gymnastics 2017.

According to Thalia, all of her achievements are the result of perseverance and dedication throughout her training journey. Although not every outcome met her expectations, she remains grateful for what she has accomplished.

“Because all the hard work and effort during training finally paid off. Although not every result fully satisfied me, I am still grateful for what I achieved. I reflect on what left me unsatisfied and use it as motivation to improve for the next competition,” she said.

Even while she was still a student at Untar, Thalia remained committed to fulfilling her academic responsibilities. She believes that her demanding gymnastics training schedule was never a reason to neglect her studies, as both were equally important. “The key is simply knowing how to manage your time,” said Thalia, who was first introduced to artistic gymnastics by her parents.

Although she is now an alumna and an accomplished athlete, Thalia continues to apply Untar’s core values of Integrity, Professionalism, and Entrepreneurship throughout her career.

“Professionalism is the key to maintaining discipline, respecting teammates and coaches, and remaining responsible and focused during every training session and competition. We must also be able to set aside personal problems while performing our responsibilities,” she emphasized. She added that integrity and entrepreneurship are reflected in maintaining good conduct both on and off the field, as well as in continuously fostering innovation, creativity, and the ability to recognize opportunities.

“My coach has always taught me to compete honestly and fairly, and to leave the results entirely in God’s hands,” she concluded. (VC/YS/KJ)
