Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) sent a community service team to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to assist communities affected by the disaster. The activity is part of a community service program coordinated by the Higher Education Service Institute (LLDikti) Region III. Before departing for the service location, the team was sent off by Untar Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Sri Tiatri, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., Psikolog at Untar Campus I, Friday (25/9/2026).
The Untar team deployed to NTT consists of representatives from the Institute for Research and Community Engagement (LPPM), Faculty of Medicine (FK), and Faculty of Psychology (FPsi). They will be stationed in Rengkas Village, Golo Lambo Village, Satarmese District, Manggarai Regency, to assist disaster-affected communities based on on-the-ground needs.
The Vice Rector expressed her appreciation for the cross-disciplinary collaboration in the activity. According to her, the direct involvement of the academic community in the midst of society is part of an effort to bring the benefits of academic knowledge beyond the campus environment.
“Untar greatly appreciates the collaboration between LPPM, FK, and FPsi Untar in carrying out this community service activity. This is a concrete action reflecting Untar’s commitment to becoming a campus that creates an impact,” she said.
She added that the activity provides an opportunity for the team to contribute directly to communities in NTT. She hoped that all activities would run smoothly and provide benefits to communities affected by the disaster.
Head of LPPM Untar Dr. Hetty Karunia Tunjungsari, S.E., M.Si. was also present at the team’s send-off. The collaboration between LPPM, FK, and FPsi enables the community service activities to involve various fields of knowledge that can be tailored to the needs of the communities at the location.
The activity is part of the application of knowledge and the academic community’s commitment to serving society. Through this initiative, knowledge developed in higher education institutions is expected to be applied directly in accordance with community needs.
The program was carried out following an earthquake that affected several areas in NTT the previous month. The impact of the disaster was also felt by communities in the area where the community service activity was conducted. This situation was one of the factors behind the implementation of the community service program coordinated by LLDikti Region III in collaboration with higher education institutions.
