Advances in artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), automation, and nanotechnology are opening new opportunities to address challenges in agriculture and healthcare. These technologies are being developed for applications including smart hydroponic systems and hyperthermia therapy for cancer treatment.
The developments were discussed during the Visiting Professor Series organized by the Institute for Research and Community Engagement (LPPM) Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) at Untar Campus I, Monday (21/9/2026). The event, themed Future Frontiers in Agriculture and Healthcare: AI, Automation, Nanotechnology, Computational Modelling, featured academics from India.
Director of Collaborative Research at Galgotias University Prof. (Dr.) Kuldeep K. Saxena discussed the development of intelligent hydroponics. The system combines artificial intelligence, IoT, and automation with agricultural science to develop more adaptive cultivation systems.
Meanwhile, Associate Professor of Mechanical & Allied Engineering at IILM University Dr. Ankita Awasthi presented the use of nanotechnology and computational modeling in developing hyperthermia therapy for cancer treatment.
The forum explored technological developments not only from the perspective of innovation but also their potential applications in addressing challenges in the agricultural and healthcare sectors. The cross-border academic meeting also opened opportunities for joint research, scientific publications, and knowledge exchange among academics.
The event was attended by Vice Rector of Untar Assoc. Prof. Sri Tiatri, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., Psikolog; Head of LPPM Untar Dr. Hetty Karunia Tunjungsari, S.E., M.Si.; Chair of the Organizing Committee Ir. Didi Widya Utama, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.; and Dr. Mei Ie, S.E., M.M. (CJ/YS)
