Three students from the Faculty of Communication Sciences (Fikom) at Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) won a silver medal at the International Student Competition (ISC) 2026, held in Bangkok, Thailand, on Saturday (8/8/2026). They were Claribel Halim, Tracy Zagitania, and Trisna Prasetya Hadinata.
ISC 2026 was an international essay competition organized by the International Student Community in collaboration with the Faculty of Agro-Industry at Chiang Mai University, Thailand. The competition was attended by participants from 10 countries.
Under the tourism and culture subtheme, the Fikom Untar team proposed an idea for an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered travel application. The idea addresses challenges tourists commonly face when they must use multiple apps for navigation, accommodation searches, transportation bookings, itinerary planning, and destination recommendations.
This situation can lead to information overload, make travel planning less efficient, and affect the overall travel experience. As a solution, the team designed an integrated AI-based travel platform that combines various travel needs into a single application. The platform is designed to provide more personalized recommendations, assist with itinerary planning, and offer real-time support.
Beyond facilitating travelers’ journeys, the concept is also intended to serve as a means of introducing Indonesian culture to international tourists.
During the competition, the three students were accompanied by Dr. Muhammad Adi Pribadi, M.I.B., M.Comm. Meanwhile, Head of the Undergraduate Communication Sciences Study Program at Untar Dr. Wulan Purnama Sari, S.I.Kom., M.Si. served as their mentor during the competition preparation. Through the process of developing and refining their idea, their work was selected as one of the outstanding entries and earned a silver medal.
Participation in ISC 2026 also provided the students with an opportunity to develop their ideas, exchange insights with participants from various countries, and gain experience competing at the international level. (CJ/YS)
