Love and compassion are universal values that exist in everyday life, including within the university environment. These values are also reflected in Valentine’s Day, celebrated every 14 February, as a moment to reflect on the meaning of care, togetherness, and mutual respect.
Within Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar), Valentine’s Day can be interpreted in a broader sense, extending beyond romantic relationships alone. Compassion is reflected through positive interactions among students, lecturers, and educational staff, as well as through the spirit of mutual support within the academic environment.
Love and compassion also play an important role in building an inclusive and harmonious campus atmosphere. Empathy, tolerance, and respect for differences become the main foundations for creating a healthy and productive learning environment.
In addition to expressing care for others, Valentine’s Day also serves as a reminder of the importance of loving and appreciating oneself. Maintaining mental health, balancing academic responsibilities with personal life, and recognizing personal limits are equally important forms of self-care.
With this inclusive and positive perspective, Valentine’s Day becomes a meaningful moment for the entire academic community of Untar to continue fostering values of compassion, respect, and togetherness in everyday campus life. (VC/YS)
