The commemoration of Isra Mikraj this year falls on January 16, 2026. The occasion serves as a meaningful moment for Muslims to reflect on the spiritual journey of Prophet Muhammad SAW, while also encouraging the academic community to embrace the values of exemplary conduct, perseverance, and hope that remain relevant in everyday life.

According to information from baznas.go.id, Isra Mikraj refers to two sacred journeys experienced by Prophet Muhammad SAW in a single night. Etymologically, Isra means a night journey, referring to the Prophet’s journey from Masjidil Haram in Mecca to Masjidil Aqsa in Jerusalem. Meanwhile, Mikraj means ascension, describing the Prophet Muhammad SAW’s journey from Masjidil Aqsa to the highest heavens to meet Allah SWT. This event is mentioned in the first verse of Surah Al-Isra in the Qur’an.

The event of Isra Mikraj is not merely a historical account in Islamic teachings, but also carries values that remain relevant to both social and spiritual life. It reflects lessons of steadfast faith in facing challenges, complete reliance on the power of Allah SWT, and respect for the legacy and traditions of previous prophets.

One of the most significant moments of Isra Mikraj was the revelation of the obligation to perform the five daily prayers, which became both a religious duty and a central pillar in the lives of Muslims. This command was delivered directly to Prophet Muhammad SAW while he was at Sidratul Muntaha in the seventh heaven, emphasizing the importance of spiritual discipline and balance in daily life.

Isra Mikraj is also understood as a symbol of the greatness and power of Allah SWT that transcends human logic. The extraordinary journey that took place within a single night across immense distances serves as a reminder that all things occur by Divine will and decree.

For Muslims, the commemoration of Isra Mikraj is a deeply meaningful spiritual event that strengthens faith, discipline in worship, and the cultivation of noble character in everyday life. These values align with Untar’s commitment to fostering an academic community that upholds integrity, ethics, and dedication to serving society and the nation.

Happy commemoration of Isra Mikraj of Prophet Muhammad SAW 1447 Hijriah. May this year’s observance become a meaningful momentum for the entire Untar community to deepen values of virtue, ethics, and spiritual awareness as part of Untar’s commitment to building individuals who are ethical, principled, and globally minded.
