Untar Receives Visit from Unilak, Explores Role as Mentoring University for Faculty of Medicine Establishment

A delegation from Universitas Lancang Kuning (Unilak) visited Untar on Wednesday (14/01/2026) at Untar Campus I to discuss the plan to appoint Untar as a mentoring university for the establishment of a Faculty of Medicine at Unilak. The meeting marked an initial step in building institutional cooperation in the field of medical education.

Untar Rector, Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M. welcomed the delegation and expressed Untar’s readiness to provide support in accordance with the university’s capabilities.

“As one of the leading private universities, Untar will certainly fully support any form of collaboration that we are able to contribute to,” he said.

He also added that Untar felt honored to be entrusted as a mentoring university for the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine at Unilak and expressed hope that the collaboration would proceed successfully.

Support for the proposed collaboration was also conveyed by Head of LLDIKTI Region III Jakarta, Dr. Henri Togar Hasiholan Tambunan, S.E., M.A. “We fully support this initiative. Further discussions regarding the necessary preparations will continue, with the hope that the plan can soon be realized,” he said.

Also present at the meeting was Member of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Golkar Party faction and alumna of Untar’s Faculty of Information Technology (FTI), Dr. Hj. Karmila Sari, S.Kom., M.M., who reaffirmed her commitment to supporting Unilak’s initiative.

“I am committed to supporting Unilak because the demand for medical professionals in Riau Province remains very high. Through this collaboration, I hope more modern and advanced developments in medical education and knowledge can emerge,” she remarked.

The meeting was attended by Chair of the Raja Ali Haji Foundation Prof. Dr. Irwan Effendi; Rector of Universitas Lancang Kuning Prof. Dr. Junaidi; and Coordinator of the Taskforce for the Establishment of Unilak’s Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Indra Purnama.

Representing Untar, attendees included Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation Assoc. Prof. Sri Tiatri, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., Psikolog; Psychiatrist Dr. dr. Noer Saelan Tadjudin, Sp.KJ.; Dean of the Faculty of Medicine dr. Yoanita Widjaja, M.Pd.Ked.; Head of the Undergraduate Medical Study Program Dr. dr. Shirly Gunawan, Sp.FK.; Head of the Medical Profession Study Program Dr. Ir. Steven Darmawan, S.T., M.T.; as well as the Head of the Institute for Learning and Academic Innovation.

The visit is expected to serve as the foundation for a structured and long-term collaboration in supporting the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine at Unilak, while further strengthening Untar’s role as a strategic partner in advancing higher education, particularly in the field of medical education.
