The Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) has added another doctoral graduate to its ranks. Ahmad, S.T., M.T., a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering Untar, was officially conferred as the 102nd Doctor of Civil Engineering in the Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering at Untar after successfully defending his dissertation during an Open Doctoral Promotion Session held on Wednesday (17/12/2025) at the Auditorium of Building M, Campus I Untar.

The open session was chaired by Untar Rector, Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., as Chair of the Session. The main promoter was Prof. Ir. Leksmono S. Putranto, M.T., Ph.D., IPM , accompanied by co-promoter Ir. Dadang M. Ma’soem, MSCE., Ph.D., as well as an internal and external examination board chaired by Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Untar, Ir. Harto Tanujaya, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.

In his dissertation titled “The Influence of Safety Model Variables and Fatigue Factor Analysis on Improving Operational Safety of Inter-Island Passenger Buses,” Ahmad examined safety factors affecting violations in inter-island bus operations. The study highlighted the important role of organizational aspects, driver behavior, and work fatigue levels in maintaining road transport operational safety.

Through his research, Ahmad found that safety climate, safety leadership, safety behavior, and safety culture have a significant influence in reducing safety violations. The study shows that safety climate serves as the main foundation in shaping leadership and safe driving behavior, while work fatigue levels also affect the effectiveness of each safety variable.

Ahmad further stated that the safety model he developed is expected to serve as an applicable and useful framework for inter-island bus operators.

“I hope that the safety model I developed can serve as an applicable evaluation framework for inter-island bus transport operators, especially in improving safety based on real working conditions,” he added.

Main Promoter, Prof. Ir. Leksmono S. Putranto, M.T., Ph.D., IPM, expressed appreciation for Ahmad’s academic achievement. “Keep researching, keep learning, and continue producing works that benefit society and the nation,” he said.

Ahmad graduated with the distinction of Very Satisfactory. In addition to pursuing his doctoral studies, he serves as a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering Untar and teaches in the Industrial Engineering Study Program. His achievement further strengthens the academic human resources within the Faculty of Engineering Untar. This Open Doctoral Promotion Session reaffirms Untar’s commitment to supporting research development relevant to national needs.
