The 20th Indonesian Round of the International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition was held on November 22–23, 2025, at Universitas Islam Indonesia. The national event served as the official selection process to determine the team that will represent Indonesia in the Asia-Pacific Round, with the opportunity to advance to the International Round.
In this competition, the Faculty of Law (FH) of Universitas Tarumanagara participated as part of its commitment to strengthening students’ capacity in the field of International Humanitarian Law. FH Universitas Tarumanagara sent a delegation consisting of students from the 2022–2024 cohorts: Glendies Dior Hummerson, Laura Kurniadi Hasaan, Khanza Octalivia Karyn, Natania Kayla Tanujaya, Rieven Yehezkiel Nasari, and Andrel Alshadad. The team was accompanied by Lewiandy, S.H., M.A., LL.M., and Sharon Marilyn, S.H., as coaches.
Carrying the theme International Moot Court Competition, the event was designed to enhance law students’ understanding of International Humanitarian Law (IHL). In addition, the competition aimed to develop participants’ research abilities, legal argument drafting, advocacy strategies, and oral pleading skills within the framework of an international moot court simulation.
The competition stages included memorial submission, preliminary rounds, advanced rounds, semi-finals, and the final round. Each team was required to prepare memorials for both the Prosecution and Defense sides before presenting their arguments before a panel of judges. The assessment covered research quality, accuracy of legal arguments, responsiveness to judges’ questions, and mastery of IHL principles.
The organizers emphasized the importance of the competition as a platform for preparing Indonesia’s future delegates at the global level. “This competition serves as a strategic platform to select and prepare the best delegates who will represent Indonesia at the regional and international levels in efforts to strengthen the understanding and enforcement of International Humanitarian Law,” said a representative of the organizing committee.
