The commemoration of Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW on September 5, 2025, serves as an important occasion for Muslims to reflect on and emulate the teachings and noble character of the Prophet Muhammad. In Indonesia, the observance of Maulid Nabi is commonly marked by various activities, including the recitation of shalawat, religious discussions, and social initiatives that strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and unity.
For the Untar academic community, particularly within the campus environment, Maulid Nabi is not merely regarded as a religious commemoration but also as an opportunity to deepen the values of humanity, justice, and social responsibility.
As expressed by the Chairperson of the Forum Ukhuwah Tarumanagara Student Activity Unit (UKM FUT), Handika Putra, regarding the significance of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday:
“For us, Maulid Nabi is not simply about commemorating an occasion; it is a moment to continuously emulate the noble character of the Prophet Muhammad. It serves as an opportunity to strengthen faith and foster brotherhood among fellow students,” he said.
In addition, UKM FUT emphasized the importance of using this commemoration as a means of applying the values exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad in students’ daily lives.
“FUT views Maulid Nabi as a reminder to emulate the Prophet’s character, leadership, and perseverance, while also nurturing the spirit of tolerance. Our message, especially to fellow students, is to make the Prophet Muhammad SAW a primary source of inspiration and to practice his teachings in everyday life,” he added.
The commemoration of Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW therefore extends beyond the Muslim community, carrying a universal message for all people about the importance of upholding compassion, brotherhood, and peace.
