The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Tarumanagara University (Untar) collaborated with Global Digital Prima (GDP) Venture to hold a seminar titled “Smart Profits and Neat Financial Strategies” at Building A, Untar Campus II, on Thursday (February 27, 2025). The seminar aimed to enhance financial literacy among students to address the risks of online loans (pinjol), with the main speaker being Mira Wibowo, the President Director of Indodana Finance.

The Dean of FEB, Prof. Dr. Sawidji Widoatmodjo, S.E., M.M., M.B.A., in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of smart financial management and introduced Mira Wibowo, the President Director of Indodana Finance, as the main speaker.

Mira Wibowo explained that Generation Z and Millennials in Indonesia are facing a serious threat due to online loans. According to the data she presented, Generation Z currently has a total debt of IDR 26.9 trillion, while Millennials are burdened with IDR 116 billion in debt. Overall, these two generations hold a total debt of IDR 27 trillion, which accounts for 57% of the national debt, amounting to IDR 47 trillion.

Furthermore, she revealed that around 7% of the total debt of IDR 27 trillion had experienced payment delinquency as of last month. This situation highlights the need for better financial awareness, especially amid the current economic instability.

“I want to remind you to be cautious so that you don’t end up on the blacklist. If that happens, it will be difficult for you to get loans for business, a house, a car, or even wedding expenses. This can hinder your future,” she said.

She also emphasized that Untar students, as future entrepreneurs, must have a productive mindset by creating something valuable, not just acting as consumers.

This seminar is expected to provide a deeper understanding of wise financial management and how to avoid harmful debt traps. (WA/YS/AJ/WA)
