Tarumanagara University (Untar) held a Chinese New Year celebration as part of its annual tradition, reaffirming its commitment to diversity. This celebration served as a moment to strengthen harmony among Untar’s academic community, which comes from diverse racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.
This year, the Chinese New Year celebration held at Untar’s Campus I on Monday (10/02/2025) featured various meaningful activities. The event was attended by the leadership of Untar and the Tarumanagara Foundation, as well as representatives from student organizations (Ormawa).
Carrying the theme “Wisdom in Diversity, Harmony in Steps,” this celebration reflects the values of inclusivity upheld by Untar. The theme aligns with Untar’s vision of internationalization, positioning the university on the path toward recognition as a world-class educational institution.

“Untar’s commitment to maintaining diversity is a concrete manifestation of our efforts to create an inclusive and harmonious academic environment. This also serves as the foundation for building Untar’s excellence,” he said.
In line with this, the Chairman of the Tarumanagara Foundation, Prof. Dr. Ariawan Gunadi, S.H., M.H., added that the Chinese New Year celebration is a tradition that has become ingrained within the Untar and Tarumanagara Foundation community.
“Pluralism at Untar is not just a concept, but a means to strengthen unity amidst existing differences,” he emphasized. The event became even more festive with the tradition of Yu Sheng or Prosperity Toss, symbolizing togetherness and good wishes. This ritual was led by the Rector of Untar along with the leadership of the Tarumanagara Foundation.

This celebration not only serves as a moment of reflection on diversity but also as concrete proof that Untar continues to strive to create an academic environment that is harmonious, inclusive, and excellent both nationally and internationally.
During this event, it was also announced that Untar is a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), a regional accreditation body focused on ensuring the quality of higher education in the ASEAN region. (VC/AJ/YS/VC)
