Kristianto earned his doctoral degree from the Civil Engineering Doctoral Program at Untar after successfully defending his dissertation in an open session led by the Rector of Untar, Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., with the examination team consisting of Ir. Harto Tanujaya, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Carunia M. Firdausy MADE., M. Ec., and Dr. Ir. Najid, M.T., on Monday, (09/12/2024), at the Auditorium of Untar Campus I. In his dissertation titled “Modeling the Influence of Toll Road Characteristics on Traffic Accident Rates on Toll Roads,” Kristianto analyzed the ideal toll road characteristic modeling to prevent traffic accidents. According to Kristianto, who works at Jasa Marga, there are four toll roads selected as his research material due to their relatively high accident rates: urban toll roads such as the Pondok Aren – Serpong (BSD) and Surabaya – Waru (East Java) toll roads, and intercity toll roads such as the Cikopo – Palimanan and Tangerang – Merak toll roads. Kristianto was designated as the 83rd Doctor of Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering (FT) at Untar and received the highest distinction, which filled him with pride over this achievement. “The remarkable experience I had while studying at Untar and earning my doctoral degree here is certainly a source of pride for me, especially to graduate with the highest distinction,” he said in his speech after being declared graduated. After conducting his research, Kristianto emphasized the importance of physical and mental readiness, as well as vehicle readiness, for drivers to avoid accidents during their journeys, even though toll road construction has been maximized. With the results of his dissertation and development designs aimed at minimizing traffic accidents, it is hoped that this research can provide anticipatory measures for the government and stakeholders in the toll road industry to identify and address the factors causing accidents on toll roads.
