The Youth Pledge Day serves as a moment for the younger generation to remember the struggles of the Indonesian youth 96 years ago. The spirit of the previous generation should be emulated to realize the vision of Indonesia Gold 2045, for a brighter and more advanced future for the nation. This was expressed by Untar Rector Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M. during the opening of the Nusantara Dance Performance themed “Harmony of the Archipelago,” initiated by the Faculty of Psychology (FPsi) Untar, on Monday (28/10/2024) at Untar Campus I. “The youth of today are the owners of the nation’s future. With the same spirit as the youth of 1928, we can lead Indonesia to even greater progress in the future,” he added.

The Dean of the Faculty of Psychology (FPsi) Untar, Sri Tiatri, S.Psi., M.Si., Psikolog, Ph.D., expressed that this event was held to encourage students to appreciate the struggles of Indonesia’s youth. With extraordinary enthusiasm, various Nusantara dances were performed by FPsi Untar students, who are members of the Padmanagara Extracurricular Activity Unit (UKE). “We hope that this event not only serves as a platform for students to develop their arts and performance skills but also trains their ability to collaborate with different parties from the preparation process to the performance,” she concluded.
The performance featured a variety of dances and songs from across Indonesia, created through the collaboration of UKE members at FPsi Untar. The show began with the Bajidor Kahot dance, a creation that blends Sundanese and Balinese cultures, followed by the Kembang Jatoeh dance from Betawi. Additionally, there was a medley of dances combining movements from various regions such as Java, Bali, Kalimantan, Manado, Ambon, Makassar, and Minang, as well as modern dances and drama performances. All of these performances took place in the campus courtyard, offering the entire Untar academic community a chance to witness and enjoy Indonesia’s rich culture.
The Coordinator of Student Affairs and Alumni at FPsi Untar, Untung Subroto, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psikolog, who also directed the performance, expressed his desire for this event to become an annual agenda for Untar. He hopes it will involve students from various faculties to showcase diversity and talents in a rich arts stage. He also emphasized the importance of loving Indonesian culture amid the rapid influence of foreign cultures.

The Nusantara Dance Performance has been held since last year, initiated by FPsi Untar to commemorate Youth Pledge Day. Supported by the Student and Alumni Affairs Institution (Lemawa) Untar, the event showcased a collaboration among students that strengthened engagement and a sense of togetherness, while promoting the theme of love for the homeland. Students welcomed this event, especially those directly involved in its organization. Ichelle Hitomi Chow, Untar Favorite Ambassador 2024 and one of the hosts, expressed her excitement about being part of the event’s organization. For her, it was an opportunity to collaborate with various parties.
Meanwhile, Dea Putery Aisyah, one of the dancers in the performance, shared her pride in being part of the Indonesian nation. “I am proud to see more and more young people who love and take pride in our homeland, the archipelago, Indonesia,” she said.
The event also featured Raymond Rowen Nathaniel, one of the FPsi Untar students who excels in music. Raymond performed Nusantara songs and has earned numerous prestigious awards, including First Place in Male Solo Vocals at SMARTFEST SMA 2 Palangkaraya, First Place in Vocal Group at the Pesparawi City 2023, and Second Place in FLS2N Male Solo Vocals at the Provincial level, among others. “This event was very memorable for me, as I could collaborate with other friends. I am grateful for the opportunity to perform in this event. For me, this event is extraordinary, and I believe it will be even more spectacular in the future,” he said.
