Doc: Untar PR – VC
Idhar Sahdar successfully earned his doctoral degree in Civil Engineering after defending his dissertation titled “Flood Control Study Based on Eco-Hydraulics for Small Watersheds (Case Study of the Akelaka-Halmahera River)”, on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the Auditorium of Untar’s Campus I. The session was led by Untar Rector Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., with an examining team consisting of Ir. Harto Tanujaya, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Ir. Dede Rohmat, M.T., Pma-SDA, and Dr. Ir. Wati A. Pranoto, M.T.
In his research, Idhar explored innovative solutions for flood control by integrating eco-hydraulics. The study aimed to make a tangible contribution to water resource management, particularly in small watersheds (DAS), which are often overlooked. The research demonstrated that the eco-hydraulic approach is effective in addressing flooding issues in vulnerable areas. The combination of eco-hydraulic methods and structural solutions has proven to significantly improve flood control.
Idhar, who graduated with the highest distinction, expressed his pride in this achievement, especially considering his humble background. “Earning this doctoral degree means a lot to me. I hope this research can provide solutions for communities, especially in addressing flooding issues, and contribute to the development of knowledge in academia,” he said in his speech after being declared successful.
Idhar’s achievement reflects not only his dedication to his studies but also his hope to make a positive impact on the environment and society, particularly in the field of flood disaster management.
