In the modern era, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Accounting has become a key element in business decision-making. More than just a concept, ESG helps companies identify, measure, and manage risks and opportunities related to sustainability issues.
This was highlighted by Accounting Festival Chairperson Jessica Caroline during the opening of the event themed “The Role of ESG Accounting to Improve Investor’s Perspective in Making Decisions” on Wednesday (10/7/2024) at Untar Campus II.
In his remarks, Dean of FEB Untar Prof. Dr. Sawidji Widoatmodjo, S.E., M.M., M.B.A. stated that the Accounting Festival serves as an excellent platform for education, competition, and networking among students, practitioners, and academics in the field of accounting.
“I hope this event will inspire students to further explore and apply ESG Accounting in every aspect of business,” said Sawidji.
The Accounting Festival is an annual event organized by the Tarumanagara Accounting Student Association (IMAKTA) of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Untar. The event aims to enhance students’ knowledge and skills in accounting while introducing the latest innovations and trends in the field.
This year’s festival featured an accounting competition involving 10 teams from various universities. The competition was designed to foster a spirit of competitiveness and innovation among accounting students.
Held over two days until Thursday (11/7/2024), the festival also hosted a talk show titled “Understanding the Role of ESG Accounting in Corporate Responsibility and Investment Strategies” at the Auditorium of Untar Campus II.
Moderated by FEB Untar lecturer Rosmita Rasyid, S.E., Ak., M.M., CA., CSRS., the talk show featured leading accounting experts from Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Sylvia Veronica Siregar, S.E., Ak., CSRS., CSRA. and Elvia R. Shauki, S.E., Ak., M.B.A., Ph.D., CA.
Representing the industry, Audit & Assurance Director and ESG Assurance Leader of KPMG Indonesia, Angga Pujaprayoga, also joined the discussion as a guest speaker. (CS/KJ/YS/KJ)
