Untar held its 83rd graduation ceremony at Balai Sidang Jakarta Convention Center, Saturday (25/5). The theme of this graduation was “Untar for Indonesia and the World: Inclusive Education to Support Sustainable Development” and highlighted the culture of Maluku Province.
The number of graduates of Odd Semester 2023/2024 who are entitled to graduate is 2,055 graduates, consisting of 1,649 graduates of the Undergraduate Program, as well as 406 graduates of Professional, Postgraduate, and Doctoral Programs.
In his speech, Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. hoped that the graduates could maintain the values that Untar has taught, namely Integrity, Professionalism, and Entrepreneurship.
“Education is the foundation of the government in encouraging the achievement of sustainable development goals in the era of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supporting the Golden Indonesia 2045. Untar provides a safe, non-violent, inclusive, and effective learning environment for all students to support SDGs in education and the development of excellent human resources,” he said.
The Rector of Untar also hoped that the graduates can successfully work in the community according to their field of knowledge. Always remember Untar as their alma mater and always uphold the values of integrity and professionalism. Able to be entrepreneurial, opening up jobs for many people. If you are successful, do not forget to return to develop your alma mater.
Head of the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDikti) Region III Prof. Dr. Toni Toharudin, S.Si., M.Sc. who was present on this occasion conveyed the importance of maintaining the spirit of learning and not stopping to develop themselves.
“Quoting from the graduation theme, education is not only about getting a degree, but also about empowering yourself to be able to apply knowledge in life,” he added during his speech.
He also emphasized that graduates should not only be recipients of knowledge, but also agents of change who bring the light of knowledge to society.
One of the graduation participants, Cheyene Nadine Roseline, S.I.Kom., said that a bachelor’s degree is not something easy to obtain. However, according to her, although there were many obstacles during the lecture process, there was always fun too.
“Of course, I am also proud of myself because at this graduation I was given the opportunity to take part as a performer. Even though it’s far from perfect, I can get through everything and make my family proud,” concluded Cheyene, who has Moluccan blood.
The graduation ceremony also saw the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Archdiocese of Jakarta, Yogyakarta State University, Budi Luhur University, Andi Sudirman University, Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI), El John Indonesia Foundation, PT Rodamas, and PT Miyamoto International Indonesia.
The MoU was held in order to build cooperation to support quality education through the implementation of the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) program.
