Untar in collaboration with Seasoldier Foundation organized mangrove tree planting and beach cleaning activities on Tuesday (30/4) at Tanjung Pasir Beach, Teluknaga, Tangerang.
The activity, which was attended by lecturers, students, and employees, was held in order to welcome Untar’s 65th Anniversary and support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A total of 650 mangrove seedlings were planted and garbage cleaning was also carried out at Tanjung Pasir Beach.
Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. said that this event is a community service activity (PKM), as well as a form of Untar’s contribution to the 14th SDG (Life in the Sea) and 15th (Life on Land).
“Untar always supports the achievement of sustainable development or SDGs which is always echoed by various activities, one of which is mangrove planting and beach cleaning today,” he said.
He hopes that Untar’s contribution in this activity can inspire and educate the community in preserving the environment.
“Hopefully, the presence of Untar can be felt by the community, and encourage people to care more about the environment,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Untar’s Faculty of Communication Studies (Fikom) student Yehezkiel Imanuel, who attended as a student representative, said he was happy to participate in this activity. He hopes that the activities carried out on this day can benefit the lives of nature and humans.
