Untar was one of two Indonesian private universities invited by the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi to represent Indonesia at the “Meet Indonesia” event, which took place over two days March 21 and 22, at Muong Thanh Luxury Hotel, Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam.
This year’s “Meet Indonesia” provided an opportunity for delegates from both countries to participate in conferences, exhibitions, business matching, meetings with representatives of the central government, regional heads (at the level of governor) and university leaders, as well as industrial visits.
In collaboration with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and 20 provinces in Vietnam, the event is a follow-up to President Joko Widodo’s state visit to Vietnam in mid-January.
During the visit, both countries agreed to become collaborative partners in increasing economic productivity and competitiveness at the global level. The hope is that a shared vision of becoming a high-income country by 2045 can be achieved.
Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi said this activity was an opportunity for Indonesia and Vietnam to strengthen cooperation in several sectors of industry, education, including science and technology. The excellence of science and technology is a major factor in supporting industrial competitiveness.
In addition, support from various parties is needed to achieve the 2045 vision, including the role of universities in producing superior human resources. According to him, universities need to be a breeding ground and encourage innovation for downstream industries.
Denny hopes that this activity can be a means for Untar to be able to develop cooperation with universities and Vietnamese economic actors in a wider sector.
“Untar can interact with industry players and policy makers in Vietnam to explore collaboration opportunities and expand Untar’s access in Vietnam,” Denny concluded.
In particular, Denny expressed his appreciation to Untar and Telkom University for representing Indonesia in this international event.
Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. and Chairman of the Foundation Prof. Dr. Ariawan Gunadi, S.H., M.H. who attended the event, revealed that Untar’s participation is a form of implementation of “Untar for the World”.
“Untar through its various advantages can contribute directly by collaborating with several institutions to develop Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam,” said the Rector.
He explained that Untar has also carried out many international collaborations with countries in Asia, Europe, Australia, and America.
“Untar has a new university partner in Nha Trang. This is a good opportunity to increase Untar’s internationalization,” continued the Rector.
On the other hand, Chairman of Tarumanagara Foundation Prof. Dr. Ariawan Gunadi, S.H., M.H. said that Tarumanagara Foundation fully supports the cooperation.
“Hopefully, Untar and several Vietnamese universities can work well together and bring positive results,” said Ariawan.
In particular, the Rector expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi for inviting Untar. He hoped that this activity could help strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and Vietnam in the education sector.
Besides attending the event, Untar also had the opportunity to hold special meetings with several universities in Vietnam, including Khanh Hoa University, Nha Trang University, Thai Binh Duong University, Telecommunications University, Ton Duc Thang University, and Nha Trang Institute of Technology Research and Application.
