Doctorate of Law Study Program conferred H. Yusmedi Yusuf a Doctorate of Law Degree in the open dissertation defense conducted by Doctorate of Law Study Program, Thursday (14/12) at Untar auditorium.
Yusmedi Yusuf succeeded to defend his dissertation titled “Law Protection to Workers in Corporate Lay Off Dispute Settlement Based on Employment Laws Perspective,” in an open dissertation defense lead by Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., IPU, AE, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.M., M.Kn., Prof. Dr. Jeane Neltje Saly, S.H.,M.H., APU. As the main promoter Prof. Dr. Mella Ismelina Farma Rahayu, S.H., M.Hum. and Co-promoter Dr. Gunardi, S.H., M.H.
In his discussion, Yusmedi stated the mechanism of law protection to workers in the settlement of corporate lay off dispute through the efforts of bipartite, mediation, conciliation, arbitrage, industrial relations court, and Supreme Court. Bipartite settlement is an effort of lay off settlement between employer and employee of a company. Mediator’s involvement is needed to supervise unilateral lay off.
Yusmedi Yusuf is the 22nd Doctor of Law from Untar, obtained his Bachelor of Law degree from the same campus in 1992, then continued Master of State Administration Science at Universitas Islam Syekh-Yusuf (UNIS), Tangerang.
