The 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia serves as an opportunity for all elements of the nation to honor the struggles of the country’s heroes while strengthening the commitment to advancing independence through meaningful contributions. Amid the challenges and developments of the times, national development requires human resources who are competent, adaptive, and committed to integrity.
As a higher education institution, Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) plays a strategic role in preparing the nation’s future generations through education, research, and community service. Various academic programs, student activities, collaborations with the business and industrial sectors, and efforts to strengthen innovation form part of Untar’s commitment to supporting national development.
Untar Rector Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., said that Indonesia’s Independence Day, commemorated every August 17, serves as an opportunity for higher education institutions to continuously strengthen their role in preparing high-quality human resources. “Independence should be interpreted through meaningful contributions according to each individual’s role. For higher education institutions, this is realized through education, research, and community service that produce graduates who are ethical, competent, adaptive to changing times, and capable of benefiting society, the nation, and the state,” he said.
This commitment is reflected in various initiatives that encourage students to develop academic competencies, professional skills, leadership qualities, and social awareness. Community service programs, research, entrepreneurship initiatives, and student organizations provide platforms for students to apply their knowledge while making meaningful contributions to society.
Beyond advancing science and technology, Untar also instills the values of integrity, professionalism, and social responsibility as integral components of student character development. These values equip graduates to contribute according to their respective areas of expertise and play a role in advancing the nation.
Carrying the theme of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, “Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia,” this year’s commemoration serves as a reminder that the spirit of independence must be realized through work, innovation, and service that benefits society. In line with this spirit, Untar remains committed to producing graduates who are excellent, possess strong character, and are capable of creating a positive impact on the nation while contributing to the realization of a more advanced Indonesia.
