Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar), through the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Law (BEM FH), hosted the 1st Tarumanagara Arbitration Competition (TAC I), a national arbitration competition that brought together law students from eight universities across Indonesia. Carrying the theme “Fostering Creativity, Protecting Innovation through Intellectual Property as a Pillar of the Future,” the event was held at the Auditorium on the 8th Floor of the M Building, Untar Campus I, from 9–11 June 2026.
The competition provided a platform for law students to strengthen their analytical thinking, legal reasoning, and advocacy skills in resolving disputes through arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
Representing BEM FH Untar, Marsya Dorothea explained that TAC I was designed to enhance students’ understanding of arbitration law from both academic and professional perspectives.
“TAC I aims to improve students’ understanding and skills in applying arbitration law theory in both academic and professional contexts. In addition, the competition is expected to foster a healthy culture of academic competition while strengthening the development of legal scholarship at the national level,” she said.

The competition featured delegations from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Padjadjaran, Universitas Airlangga, President University, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta, Universitas Kristen Indonesia, and Universitas Andalas.
The event officially opened on 9 June 2026, followed by the final round on 10 June, and concluded with the awards ceremony on 11 June 2026.
In addition to the competition, the organizers held a national seminar featuring Prof. Dr. Rasji, S.H., M.H. and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suyud Margono, S.H., M.Hum., FCIArb. as keynote speakers. The seminar explored current developments in arbitration and the protection of intellectual property rights in the resolution of business disputes.
The organization of TAC I involved a student organizing committee, support from the leadership of Untar’s Faculty of Law, and participation from delegations representing universities across Indonesia. Through the competition, BEM FH Untar seeks to strengthen students’ competencies in arbitration while fostering academic collaboration among law faculties nationwide. (VC/YS)
