The Doctoral Program in Management Science at Untar held an open examination at Campus I of Untar on Wednesday (17/6/2026). On the occasion, Fetty Kwartati was officially conferred as the program’s 26th doctoral graduate after earning a cum laude distinction.
In her dissertation titled “Multi-Causal Aggregator Analysis for International Expansion (A Study on PT Sarinah’s Business Partners),” Fetty examined various factors influencing the success of international expansion among PT Sarinah’s business partners amid increasingly intense global market competition.
She developed an analytical model that integrates internal corporate factors, business ecosystem support, and international market dynamics. The model is expected to serve as a reference for companies seeking to expand into global markets in a more effective and sustainable manner.

“This study aims to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the factors contributing to successful international expansion, thereby serving as a basis for strategic decision-making among business actors,” said the former President Director of PT Sarinah.
The executive, who currently serves as President Director of PT Berkat Cipta Karsa (Brightstone), added that international strategies are determined not only by a company’s ability to produce competitive products but also by its ability to build collaborations, understand the characteristics of target markets, and optimize resources.
The findings demonstrate that a multi-causal approach offers a more comprehensive picture of the determinants of successful international expansion. The study also highlights the importance of synergy among companies, business partners, and stakeholders in building global competitiveness.
The open examination, chaired by Main Promoter Prof. Dr. Haris Maupa, S.E., M.Si. and Examination Chair Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., concluded with the hope that the research would contribute academically to the advancement of strategic management studies while also serving as a practical reference for Indonesian companies seeking to expand into international markets.
