The Faculty of Architecture, Planning, and Real Estate (FAPRE) of Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar), in collaboration with the Jakarta Chapter of the Indonesian Association of Planners (IAP Jakarta) and the Community for Maritime Studies Indonesia (CMSI), organized a panel discussion entitled “Jakarta Resilient Coast: Towards an Adaptive and Resilient Coastal Future.” The event was held at the Executive Lounge of the Tarumanagara Knowledge Center, Main Building, Untar Campus I, Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/04/2026).

The panel discussion served as a collaborative platform for academics, practitioners, and stakeholders to address the challenges of developing Jakarta’s coastal areas amid climate change, urbanization, and the increasingly dynamic growth of the city.

Through the theme presented, the event aimed to encourage the emergence of innovative ideas and solutions in creating coastal areas that are more adaptive, sustainable, and resilient in facing future challenges.

The discussion featured speakers from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, including Suryono Herlambang, S.T., M.Sc., lecturer at FAPRE Untar; T.S.N.B. Hutabarat, Special Staff to the Chief of Naval Staff (KASAL) and Advisor to CMSI; and Isnawa Adji, Head of the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD DKI Jakarta).

During their presentations, the speakers emphasized the importance of integrated coastal planning that takes into account environmental, social, economic, and regional resilience aspects. Coastal development, they noted, should not focus solely on infrastructure construction but must also consider ecosystem sustainability and the quality of life of local communities.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of synergy among government institutions, academics, communities, and society in formulating policies and urban planning that are more responsive to environmental changes.

The event reflects Untar’s commitment to advancing knowledge and providing an academic forum for discussions on pressing urban and environmental issues. Through its collaboration with IAP Jakarta and CMSI, Untar hopes the discussion will strengthen the contribution of higher education institutions in supporting sustainable urban development in Indonesia.
