Becoming a doctor is not an easy journey. However, becoming a responsible, sincere, and compassionate physician does not end with graduation. The journey must continue—not only in practicing the profession but also in striving to become a better individual.
This was revealed by the Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng., during the 142nd New Doctor Inauguration and the 84th Graduation Ceremony of the Faculty of Medicine (FK) Untar on Wednesday (7/8/2024) at the Auditorium of Untar Campus I.
In the academic report presented by FK Untar Dean Dr. dr. Noer Saelan Tadjudin, Sp.KJ., it was announced that 121 new doctors were inaugurated. Of these graduates, 31 earned cum laude honors, 87 graduated with high distinction, and three received satisfactory distinctions. To date, FK Untar has produced a total of 5,056 medical doctors.
He also reminded the graduates to uphold the values of Integrity, Professionalism, and Entrepreneurship (IPE). “Whatever path you choose after this, I hope you become doctors who not only apply their knowledge but also uphold ethics and maintain positive social interactions,” he said.
Representing the graduates, Fahmi Rachmatullah expressed gratitude for the achievement attained through perseverance, hard work, patience, and dedication. “Throughout our studies here, every phase of the journey has shaped who we are today. The experiences we gained at FK Untar have not only enhanced our medical competencies but have also taught us empathy, effective communication, and teamwork in delivering the best possible patient care,” said dr. Fahmi.
Also attending the ceremony were Secretary of the Tarumanagara Foundation Board Vedrych J. Kusnanto, S.Kom., M.M., Chair of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) West Jakarta Branch Dr. dr. Cecilia R. Padang, Ph.D., FACR, Chair of the Tarumanagara Medical Alumni Family Association Dr. dr. Diah Rini Handjari, Sp.P.A., Subsp. D.H.B.(K), religious leaders, representatives from partner hospitals, parents and guardians of the graduates, as well as members of the FK Untar academic community. (CS/YS/KJ)
