Aloysius Budi Santoso successfully defended his dissertation titled “The Influence of Managerial Capability, Adhocracy Culture, and Knowledge Sharing on Innovation Capability and Innovation Performance in Indonesian Companies” at the Untar auditorium on Tuesday (27/8/2024).
His dissertation highlights the importance of managerial capability and adhocracy culture in enhancing the innovation capability and performance of companies in Indonesia, a key focus amid the ongoing industrial revolution.
Aloysius identified that the industrial revolution often faces challenges related to innovation failure, largely caused by inadequate innovation capabilities across various companies. To address these challenges, managerial capability is considered a key factor in strengthening a company’s ability to innovate.
One of the most notable aspects of the research is its focus on adhocracy culture. The simultaneous development of managerial capabilities and knowledge sharing within Astra Group companies was found to have a significant positive impact.
Adhocracy is an organizational culture that promotes flexibility, adaptability, and innovation through non-rigid structures that encourage creativity. The study’s key findings indicate a significant positive influence of adhocracy culture on a company’s innovation capability. The implementation of adhocracy culture was proven to facilitate the enhancement of innovation capability and contribute to improved innovation performance.
This research offers new insights for managerial and innovation practices in Indonesian companies, while also contributing academic novelty that may open new avenues for future research. Furthermore, it provides a significant contribution to understanding how management and organizational culture can interact to enhance innovation capabilities in response to the dynamics of modern industry.
Aloysius Budi Santoso graduated with a cum laude distinction, achieving a perfect Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.00, and became Untar’s 14th Doctor of Management Science. (VH/YS/KJ)
