As Host of the 4th KPPTI, Universitas Tarumanagara Reaffirms Commitment to Innovation and Digital Literacy

Universitas Tarumanagara served as the host of the 4th Indonesian Academic Library International Conference (KPPTI) or The 4th Indonesian Academic Library International Conference, which was officially opened on Wednesday (8/10/2025) at the Auditorium of Building M, Campus I Universitas Tarumanagara.

Carrying the theme “AI-Driven Academic Libraries: Innovation, Ethics, and the Future of Knowledge Management,” the conference discussed how artificial intelligence (AI) can play a role in transforming academic libraries toward a more efficient and sustainable digital era. Participants attending the opening ceremony consisted of librarians from various higher education institutions across Indonesia.

Rector of Universitas Tarumanagara Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M. officially opened the event and expressed his appreciation for the successful organization of the 4th KPPTI. “Events such as KPPTI not only provide benefits for libraries, but also for universities,” he said in his remarks.

He added that this year’s conference theme is highly relevant to current developments that demand synergy between technology and information literacy. “In line with today’s theme, I believe AI can serve as a tool to facilitate and foster innovation development in the field of library information,” he added.

Chairperson of the Indonesian Higher Education Library Forum (FPPTI) Mariyah, S.Sos., M.Hum., emphasized the importance of digital transformation for academic libraries to remain adaptive and efficient.

“Artificial intelligence is considered to be the brain of the library, capable of organizing, filtering, and presenting knowledge efficiently. AI can also act as a consultant in assisting decision-making regarding the selection of appropriate knowledge,” she explained.

According to her, like knowledge itself, AI will have a positive impact if used wisely. Therefore, the 4th KPPTI is expected to serve as a platform for sharing insights and best practices in the ethical use of AI in the field of librarianship.

The keynote speakers included the Head of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. E. Aminudin Aziz, M.A., Ph.D., as well as a representative from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) of the Republic of Indonesia, Dedi Saputra. Both discussed the role of artificial intelligence in strengthening knowledge management systems and developing policy strategies that are adaptive to the digital era.

In addition to featuring national and international speakers, the event was also supported by various strategic partners in the field of academic information and publication, such as Turnitin, Elsevier, Bloomsbury, Springer, Emerald Publishing, and many others.

The event held at Universitas Tarumanagara reaffirmed its support for the implementation of national and international academic activities that have a tangible impact on the development of knowledge. Through the 4th KPPTI, Universitas Tarumanagara actively contributes to strengthening inter-library networks, promoting digital literacy, and advancing information management in line with contemporary developments.
