FT Untar Brings in Mitsubishi Electric Expert to Discuss the Future of Smart Industry

The Faculty of Engineering (FT) Untar held an event titled “Bridging Education and Industry: Exploring Smart Manufacturing with Mitsubishi Electric” on Friday, August 22, 2025. The event took place at Building J, Untar Campus I.

The event featured speakers from PT Mitsubishi Electric Indonesia, namely Ivan Chandra (Head of Division, Factory Automation and Industrial Division) and Kevin Widjaya (Product Marketing, Factory Automation and Industrial Division).

The event was aimed at students from the Mechanical, Electrical, and Industrial Engineering programs, as well as cross-program students from the Faculty of Information Technology (FTI), along with related faculty members. Its purpose was to build a bridge between academia and industry through the exploration of smart manufacturing technology, while also providing the latest insights into the future of industrial technology.

The seminar was opened by the Dean of FT Untar, Ir. Harto Tanujaya, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., who stated that a strong relationship between academia and industry is the key to producing graduates who are professional, adaptable, and ready to make real contributions to both society and the industrial sector.

“The importance of human resource readiness in facing the ever-evolving industrial transformation,” concluded Ir. Harto.

Untar Electrical Engineering alumnus, Kevin Widjaya (Product Marketing, Marketing Department, Factory Automation and Industrial Division, Mitsubishi Electric), was present as the keynote speaker. In his presentation, he emphasized the importance of human resource readiness in facing the rapidly accelerating industrial transformation.

In addition, Ivan Chandra (Head of Division, Factory Automation and Industrial Division, Mitsubishi Electric) also delivered a presentation and conducted an interactive session in the form of a quiz and Q\&A. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from the active involvement of both students and lecturers throughout the event.

Through this event, FT Untar demonstrated its commitment to fostering collaboration with industry, particularly through the Making Indonesia 4.0 program carried out in partnership with Mitsubishi Electric. The program is implemented through various activities such as Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), seminars, and public lectures.

In addition to receiving direct insights from industry experts, participants also received free e-certificates. The event is expected to strengthen the synergy between academia and the professional world, particularly in the field of smart manufacturing technology. (VC/YS)
