The Accounting Student Association of Tarumanagara (IMAKTA), Faculty of Economics and Business, Tarumanagara University (FEB Untar), is once again holding its annual event, Accounting Festival 2025, which takes place over three days from June 2 to 4, 2025, at Untar Campus II.

The Accounting Festival is designed as a platform for students to sharpen their knowledge and skills in the field of accounting through both educational and competitive approaches. This year, the festival carries the main theme: “Digital Transformation in Accounting: Enhancing Efficiency and Transparency through Smart Accounting Information Systems,” highlighting the importance of digitalization in improving the efficiency and transparency of today’s accounting practices.

The event chairperson, Cordelia Stella Chandra, explained that the theme was chosen in response to the real needs of the professional world. “Digital transformation enables better integration of information, reduces manual errors, and accelerates financial reporting. Smart accounting information systems also enhance transparency and support real-time, data-driven decision-making,” she stated.

The festival features two main activities: the Accounting Case Competition and a Talk Show. The case competition carries the theme “Optimizing the Efficiency of Accounting Systems for Nationwide Distribution Enterprises,” which challenges participants to design practical solutions for managing financial data across multiple branches of distribution companies in Indonesia.

The Talk Show, held on the final day of the festival, carries the theme “Intelligence Meets Integrity: Why Accountants Still Matter in the Age of AI.” This session highlights the importance of ethics and integrity in the accounting profession, despite many technical functions increasingly being taken over by artificial intelligence.

Dozens of teams from various universities across Indonesia took part in the competition, with judging conducted directly by professionals, including a panelist from PT Idola Bhakti Tama. The evaluation was based on the relevance of the solutions, creativity, and the feasibility of real-world implementation.

“Accounting is not just about numbers,” Stella emphasized. “It also requires analytical skills, contextual understanding, and the ability to solve real problems.” She also highlighted that the festival’s series of themes were intentionally designed to be interconnected—aiming to shape future accountants who are adaptive, ethical, and ready to enter the professional world.

With a spirit of collaboration between academia and industry, Accounting Festival 2025 stands as a testament to FEB Untar and IMAKTA’s commitment to nurturing a new generation of professional accountants who are ready to face the challenges of the digital era and AI disruption. (CS/AJ/YS)
