As part of its 66th anniversary celebration, the Tarumanagara Foundation, in collaboration with Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) and the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Untar, held a seminar and panel discussion titled “Smart Investing in the Digital Era: Beyond Profit, Toward Purpose” on Monday (June 2, 2025) at the Auditorium of Untar Campus I. This event reflects the Foundation’s and Untar’s strong commitment to enhancing financial literacy and shaping young investors to be smart and responsible.

The Rector of Untar, Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of equipping students with relevant investment insights and strategies from industry experts. Echoing this view, the Secretary of the Tarumanagara Foundation Board, Vedrych J. Kusnanto, S.Kom., M.M., stated that investment is a long-term process that has a positive impact on personal development and the future of the younger generation.

As the keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Sawidji Widoatmojo reminded the audience that investing is not solely about pursuing profit, but also about reflecting the investor’s values and life goals.
Senior investor Lo Kheng Hong encouraged participants to bravely start investing, even in small companies with potential, while emphasizing the importance of understanding what one is buying and upholding integrity.

The next speaker, Chris Apriliony (Founder of BestStockPick), highlighted the crucial role of both technical and fundamental analysis in making sound investment decisions. Meanwhile, William, M.StratComm., WPPE, from Stockbit and Bibit.id, explained how technology expands access to information and increases youth participation in the capital market. The discussion session was dynamically moderated by Hadi Cahyadi (Founder of Helios Capital), who successfully connected the diverse perspectives of the speakers while addressing various critical questions from the participants.

As part of the event series, an awarding ceremony was also held for the winners of the inter-student investment trading competition. The top three teams—“Trio Cuan,” “Ameri,” and “Fomo United”—received awards for their outstanding performance and strategy.

This activity reinforces the role of Untar and the Tarumanagara Foundation in shaping a generation of young investors who are not only financially literate but also possess ethics, vision, and readiness to face the challenges of investing in the digital era. (VC/YS/AJ)
