The Ascension of Jesus Christ, commemorated 40 days after Easter, is a significant moment in the Christian liturgical calendar. Theologically, this event marks the completion of Christ’s mission of salvation on earth and the beginning of the Church’s mission, continued through the presence of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19–20). For Christians, this commemoration is not merely ceremonial but serves as a reminder that the risen Christ now reigns as King in heaven.
At Tarumanagara University (Untar), the spirit of celebrating the Ascension of Jesus Christ is also felt through activities initiated by Christian students who are members of the Ecumenical Fellowship Student Activity Unit of Tarumanagara University (UKM POUT). As a forum for spiritual development and fellowship across faculties, UKM POUT not only serves as a place to strengthen faith but also as a means to nurture inclusive and constructive spiritual character.
“The meaning of the Ascension of Jesus Christ reminds us to continually grow in faith, live in unity as the body of Christ, and serve with hope in His return,” said Maria Vianney, a student of the Faculty of Law at Untar who is active in UKM POUT.
The spiritual development activities conducted by UKM POUT are also in line with Tarumanagara University’s vision to uphold religious freedom and support the holistic character development of students. By supporting positive religious activities, Untar demonstrates its commitment to shaping academic individuals who are not only intellectually excellent but also spiritually mature.
