The Faculty of Economics and Business at Tarumanagara University (FEB Untar), in collaboration with PT Karya Technik Multifinance (PT KTM), held a Financial Literacy Seminar on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the Auditorium of Building B, Untar Campus II. The seminar, themed “Understanding Financing in the Maritime Industry,” was attended by students and lecturers.
Vonny Madya, Director of Compliance at PT KTM, expressed her hope that the seminar would be beneficial for all participants. She also welcomed further collaboration with the company to enrich the knowledge of the younger generation, particularly in the fields of finance and maritime affairs.
Meanwhile, Head of the Bachelor of Management Study Program, Dr. Frangky Selamat, S.E., M.M., expressed his appreciation for the presence of speakers from the maritime industry, which he regarded as a valuable and relevant perspective for management students to understand.
“Today, we have something new: our speakers come from a maritime background. I believe this is a positive development, as it can broaden the knowledge of the seminar participants,” he stated.
He also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the university and the industry so that students do not focus solely on theory in the classroom but actively participate in seminars like this.

The seminar featured a presentation by the President Commissioner of PT Karya Technik Multifinance, Sim Idrus Munandar. In his presentation, he provided an in-depth discussion on the dynamics of the maritime industry from both national and international perspectives, as well as how financing and financial systems play a role in supporting the industry.
“You should use the approximately four years at Untar to prepare your knowledge and experience. Learn many languages, decide on your future career, take on part-time jobs, and build your network. I believe these will be beneficial for you in the future,” he advised the mostly student audience.
