The Faculty of Information Technology at Tarumanagara University (FTI Untar) held an inspiring guest lecture themed “Turning Passion Into Profession” and “The Art of Clean Code: Tackle Your Way to Be Ultimate Developer” on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Seminar Room, Building R, Untar Campus I. This event was designed to equip students with practical insights and readiness to enter the workforce in the field of information technology.
Two FTI Untar alumni who are now pursuing careers at Kawan Lama Group were invited as speakers: Janessa Sarah Destini (Information Systems, Class of 2021) and Fernando (Informatics Engineering, Class of 2019). They shared real-world experiences and professional tips on becoming resilient and relevant developers in today’s industry.
The Dean of FTI Untar, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dyah Erny Herwindiati, M.Si., opened the event with hopes that students would listen enthusiastically and use the session as motivation to transform into job-ready professionals.
“I appreciate the speakers for their presence and hope the participants gain many new insights,” she stated.
In her presentation, Janessa emphasized that making mistakes is a natural part of the learning process. “What matters is that we keep learning and finding solutions,” she said.
Meanwhile, Fernando highlighted the importance of writing clean code—code that is neat, well-structured, and easy to understand—even while still in college. “Clean code is a long-term investment. You’ll be grateful when you can still understand the code you wrote a year ago,” he explained.
One participant, Alvin Kurniawan, expressed his enthusiasm for the seminar. “The speakers were great; they didn’t just share their experiences but also taught practical skills that are easy to understand,” he said.
Through this event, FTI Untar reaffirmed its commitment to providing holistic learning by connecting classroom theory with industry realities through synergy with alumni and professional partners.
