Untar Appoints New Psychologist, Ready to Serve the Community

The Faculty of Psychology at Tarumanagara University (FPsi Untar) inaugurated 30 psychologists from the Master’s Professional Psychology Education Study Program on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the Graha Swara Room, Untar Campus I.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Untar Rector Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., Dean of the Faculty of Psychology Assoc. Prof. Sri Tiatri, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., Psychologist, faculty members, graduates’ families, representatives from the Indonesian Psychological Association (HIMPSI), and parents.

In his speech, the Rector emphasized the importance of psychologists’ presence in society today, citing the increasing demand for mental health professionals.

“The demand for professionals in the mental health field is increasingly urgent. Therefore, I hope Untar graduates are ready to step forward and make a real contribution. Congratulations to the 30 new psychologists who will be sworn in today,” he expressed.

The Dean of the Faculty of Psychology also conveyed her appreciation to all parties involved. “Congratulations to the graduates and their families. May these young psychologists continue to uphold Untar’s good name and be of benefit to the nation,” she said.

Of the total 30 graduates, 22 specialized in Clinical Psychology, 6 in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and 2 in Educational Psychology. “All graduates have completed 60 credit hours and met the professional practice hour requirements. They are qualified to hold the title of psychologist,” explained Dr. Naomi Soetikno, M.Pd., Psychologist, Chair of the Study Program.

Secretary General of HIMPSI, Mulyanto, M.Psi., Psychologist, also highlighted the important role of graduates in community services. “Currently, there are only around 3,000 psychologists working in public service facilities. Untar graduates with a strong interest in clinical psychology represent a new hope for the nation,” he stated.

On behalf of the graduates, Sophie Femina Limarta expressed gratitude and enthusiasm for moving forward to a new phase. “Today’s inauguration is not the end, but the beginning of a new chapter that is more challenging and meaningful. May our steps ahead become a real contribution to the nation and the world,” she concluded.

As one of Indonesia’s leading private universities, Untar continues to demonstrate its consistency in producing high-quality graduates ready to face professional challenges and make a positive impact on society.
