Tarumanagara University (Untar) conferred degrees to 2,270 graduates at the 85th Graduation Ceremony held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

The graduates consisted of 1,849 from the Bachelor’s program and 421 from the Professional, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programs.

The theme of this graduation event, “Sustainable Innovation Towards the Era of International Collaboration,” aligns with efforts to achieve the 4th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) in the field of education.

The Rector of Untar, Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., in his speech conveyed that Untar remains committed to improving academic quality and providing the best services for all members of the Untar academic community. This commitment is realized through the implementation of scientific activities, research development, community service, and student exchange programs.

“The graduates are expected to consistently emphasize the importance of enhancing competencies so that they are equipped to face the challenges of technological advancements and changes in the times,” said the Rector of Untar.

In line with the Ministry’s directives, Tarumanagara University (Untar) has implemented the concept of a “campus with impact.” This term is not a departure from the previous “Independent Campus” slogan but rather a continuation with a focus on sustainability. Through this concept, it is hoped that collaboration can continue to develop both nationally and internationally.

The Higher Education Service Institution (LLDikti) Region III Jakarta, represented by Tri Munanto, S.E., M.Ak., the Acting Head of LLDikti Region III, was also present and expressed appreciation to all graduates for their achievements.

“In this dynamic era, every individual must be able to adapt, particularly in cross-industry collaboration and innovation that has a wide impact on society,” said Tri Munanto.

Additionally, the graduation oration was delivered by Dr. Ir. Wati Asriningsih Pranoto, M.T., titled “Harvesting Rainwater for a Sustainable Future: The Role of the Younger Generation in Overcoming the Water Crisis and Floods.”

In her oration, the Head of the Civil Engineering Master’s Program at Untar highlighted the importance of rainwater harvesting as a solution to address the clean water crisis, pollution, and flood risks. She emphasized the role of the younger generation in creating sustainable innovations that support the achievement of the SDGs, particularly regarding clean water and proper sanitation.

This graduation ceremony once again showcased the cultural richness of Indonesia, specifically from West Java, as part of efforts to preserve Indonesian cultural values. Untar’s commitment to promoting the theme of Nusantara culture sustainably has been officially recognized with a MURI Record, marking a testament to Untar’s consistency in preserving the nation’s cultural heritage.

On the same occasion, a creative performance blending traditional dance choreography “Asa Harapan” from Cirebon, West Java, was presented, accompanied by melodies and illustrations created by students and faculty from the Faculty of Psychology. This creation has officially received an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) certificate. Featuring the Batik Megamendung motif, this work holds original value that needs protection from misuse, while also serving as an appreciation of the creativity of Untar students. (VC/YS)
