UNTAR Welcomes the Visit of UST Angelicum College to Strengthen International Cooperation

Universitas Tarumanagara (Untar) has once again established a collaboration with UST Angelicum College from the Philippines. The meeting between the two institutions took place at Untar’s Campus I on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. The delegation from UST Angelicum College was warmly welcomed by Untar’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., as well as the deans of several faculties at Untar, including the Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences (Fikom), Dr. Riris Loisa, M.Si.; the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Prof. Dr. Sawidji Widoatmodjo, S.E., M.M.; and the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology (FTI).

UST Angelicum College is part of the University of Santo Tomas – Angelicum College, a private Catholic institution for primary and higher education located in Manila, Philippines. The delegation present at the meeting included the Rector and President of UST Angelicum College, Fr. John Stephen P. Besa, OP.; the Director of Religious Affairs, Fr. John Andrew S. Bautista, OP.; the Coordinator of Community Engagement, Fr. Jerone R. Geronimo, OP.; and the Director of Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Eunice Mareth Q. Areola, Ph.D., HSG. Additionally, two priests who teach at UST Angelicum College were also present: Fr. Roger C. Quirao, OP., and Fr. Mhandy S. Malijan, OP.

In his speech, Untar’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., M.M., expressed his hope for the strengthening of the good relationship between the two institutions. “Unity and collective action are strategic steps in driving innovation, improving the quality of education, and facing the challenges of education in this dynamic era,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Rector and President of UST Angelicum College, Fr. John Stephen P. Besa, OP., expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome from Untar. He emphasized that his visit was a gesture of appreciation for the cooperation that has already been established and a step toward strengthening the academic relationship between the two institutions.

The meeting concluded with a discussion on the various potential collaborations between Untar and UST Angelicum College, particularly in the fields of academia and research. Both parties also reaffirmed their commitment to promoting quality education to the public, one of which would be through journal publications as a form of implementing academic cooperation.
