Untar hosted the 2nd Leadership Talks event: Higher Education Leadership Discussion 2024, on Tuesday (25/6) in the Auditorium of Campus I Untar. The event, a collaboration between Untar and Higher Education Service Institution Region III (LLDikti III), carried the theme “Managing Reputation through Quality Education for Sustainability”.
The event, which was attended by leaders of universities under LLDikti III, aimed to discuss reputation management strategies through quality education that can contribute to sustainability.

He said that Leadership Talks are critical for HEI leaders to overcome challenges and complex problems in the current era. This kind of leadership dialogue is a reflection for universities to accelerate the quality of higher education immediately.
“In an era that continues to evolve, HEIs need to prepare the younger generation with skills and understanding that are relevant to the needs of industry and society,” said the Head of LLDikti III.
Toni added that the collaboration in Leadership Talks is expected to create a synergy between the world of education and industry that produces leaders who are not only qualified but also relevant to the demands of today.
Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Dirjen Diktiristek) of the Ministry of Education and Culture Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, M.Sc. presented as a keynote speaker with the title “Higher Education Development Policy in Indonesia for Sustainability”.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Executive Board of the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT) Prof. Dr. Ir. Ari Purbayanto, M.Sc. who became a guest speaker in the discussion session highlighted the wide gap in the quality of higher education between universities in Indonesia.
In the current era of society 5.0, higher education in Indonesia must adapt to technological developments and rapid social change. This becomes very important in quality assurance because Society 5.0 emphasizes the integration between humans and technology to achieve social and economic progress.
In line with the Director General of Diktiristek, the Head of LLDikti III, who was also a guest speaker, said that the quality gap of universities is caused by the low level of understanding, awareness, and responsibility of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI).
In response to this, LLDikti III has designed a strategy to strengthen quality through SPMI to encourage PTS to make improvements to quality assurance and reduce the quality gap in higher education.
This discussion session was led by the Rector of Untar who was also a resource person by sharing the good practices of the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) program at Untar.
One of the leaders who attended the event, the Rector of Al-Azhar University Indonesia Prof. Dr. Ir. Asep Saefuddin, M.Sc. said that quality assurance is an important factor in reputation management.
“Even though universities are already excellent, they still have to do continuous improvement which is not negotiable. This is an important part and cannot be separated from the management of universities,” he added.
He also expressed his admiration for Untar for encouraging cooperation between universities and continuing to share strategies with other universities.
