Untar, as one of the private universities accredited with excellence by BAN-PT, has successfully entered the list of the world’s top campus rankings issued by Times Higher Education (THE). THE is a world university ranking organization that assesses and ranks 1,498 universities from 115 countries/regions for their outstanding contribution to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Based on the ranking results released on Wednesday (12/6), Untar was included in the list of the world’s top campuses in 2024 in four categories, namely Top Universities for Sustainable Industrialization and Tech, Top Universities Fostering Global Partnerships, Top Universities Promoting Societal Peace and Justice, and Top Universities for Promoting Quality Education.

The assessment is based on the contribution of the world’s best campuses in fulfilling 17 SDGs points by 2024. Meanwhile, the four SDGs achieved by Untar are SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

THE placed Untar in the top 401-600 of the world’s leading campuses in SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), ranked 601-800 for SDG 4 (Quality Education), ranked 601-800 for SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and ranked 1501+ for SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

These results prove that Untar, along with other world’s best universities, not only stands out in certain fields, but also excels in various SDGs. It demonstrates Untar’s commitment to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges, such as environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth, and partnerships.

Achieving EduRank Ranking

In addition, EduRank also ranked Untar as the 63rd best campus in Indonesia and 5th best in Jakarta. The EduRank ranking is based on research results, non-academic excellence, and alumni influence. The ranking is determined by analyzing 66.7 thousand citations received through 47.1 thousand academic publications from 562 universities in Indonesia, including 53 universities from Jakarta.

Rector of Untar Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng. stated that this year Untar succeeded in entering the international ranking with results in four SDGs categories. This result is a joint achievement made by lecturers, students, and all stakeholders. For Untar, this is the first time participating in THE’s ranking.

He added that Untar continues to carry out internal quality assurance and produce various quality performance achievements to support Untar’s reputation. Untar has only started participating in international rankings in 2019 beginning with QS ratings and rankings in 2021.

“We thank you for the collaboration of all stakeholders. Hopefully, in the future Untar can get better ranking results,” he said.

Previously, Untar also got an assessment as the top three best private universities in 2023 from The AppliedHE Private University Ranking: ASEAN+. (YS/PA/KJ)
