Untar is the only private university in Indonesia appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture’s Directorate General of Higher Education to participate in the Eurasia Higher Education Summit (EURIE) 2024 in Istanbul, Turkey, from February 26-29.
EURIE 2024 is a major annual international higher education exhibition and convention in the Asia-Europe region attended by educators, academics, policy makers, and other stakeholders in the field of higher education from all over the world.
Team Leader for Cooperation and Public Relations of the Directorate General of Higher Education Yayat Hendayana said that his office coordinated and cooperated with nine leading Indonesian universities to participate in the transformation of education to welcome the Golden Indonesia 2045, by expanding and strengthening the network of international partners to produce quality higher education.
He hopes this activity can provide greater opportunities for Indonesian universities to enter the world higher education market.
“Ditjen Diktiristek gives appreciation to Untar as the only private university in Indonesia that is able to open its own booth, so that it is more focused on introducing the advantages and uniqueness of its higher education programs,” said Yayat.
Present at the event, Chairman of Tarumanagara Foundation Prof. Dr. Ariawan Gunadi, S.H., M.H. gave his support for Untar’s internationalization activities. He said that Tarumanagara Foundation will always pay special attention to activities that bring Untar’s name in the international arena.
“As the only private university appointed and trusted by Ditjen Diktiristek, this proves Untar’s real role and contribution to the world in competing in the global arena along with universities in various parts of the world,” said Ariawan.
Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Agustinus Purna Irawan, M.T., M.M., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng., who attended the event, revealed that this was the first time Untar participated in this EURIE activity. Untar’s participation is one of the efforts to implement the tagline “Untar for the World.”
“Untar wants to play a wider role in global higher education by continuously improving its quality. Untar has been projected by Ditjen Diktiristek as one of the world-class private universities,” said the Rector.
Furthermore, the Rector hopes to establish partnerships with various universities in the world, to support the achievement of superior human resources in welcoming the Golden Indonesia 2045. According to him, Untar has various excellent programs that can be offered.
“Untar offers various cross-country programs that include lecturer and student exchanges, international collaborative research, international community service, guest lecturers, and internships as well as various other activities in accordance with Untar’s excellence, especially in the field of Entrepreneurship,” explained the Rector.
He explained that Untar has carried out many international collaborations with countries in Asia, Australia, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and America.
Hopefully, EURIE 2024 will strengthen and expand international cooperation with several additional European countries such as Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Romania, Brazil, Azerbaijan, and Italy.
MoU signings were also held on-site with Eurasian National University and several other universities such as Azerbaijan Technical University, Universidade Federal de Lavras Brazil, HSE University St. Petersburg, Antalya Bilim University, Medipol University, Üsküdar University, Marmara University, Lokman Hekim University, Sapienza University, Kasetsart University, Universidade Federal De Lavras, Hult International Business School, Morgan State University Maryland, and Istanbul Aydin University.
In particular, the Rector expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Directorate General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture for facilitating Untar. He believes that this activity is very useful and brings positive results.
On the same occasion, the Rector of Untar and his entourage had the opportunity to visit the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Istanbul. Welcomed by Consul General Darianto Harsono, the Rector expressed his desire to strengthen collaboration with various institutions in European countries.
In his discussion, Darianto said that he welcomed the presence of Indonesian universities to strengthen foreign cooperation by bridging to facilitate its implementation in the future.
EURIE 2024 presents 2,000 participants from 72 countries. Organized by the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS), this is the ninth year the event has been held. (AW/PA/KJ)
