The Scientific Discussion Forum (FDI) seminar organized by the Untar Faculty of Psychology (FPsi) together with the Association of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (APIO) raised the topic “How Can Gratitude Overcome Work Stress?”, Wednesday (25/10) online.
Acting as moderator, Dr. Ir. I Made Budiana, M.M., M.Si. (APIO), highlighted the positive impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which gave rise to many start-up companies in Indonesia. However, at the same time, serious issues related to work stress emerged.
Answering this, two speakers, Untar Master of Psychology student Chrysan Gomargana, M.Psi. (Cand.), and FPsi Untar lecturer Dr. Rostiana, M.Si., Psi., explained the importance of gratitude intervention in overcoming work stress.
Referring to her thesis study, Chrysan emphasized the importance of Gratitude Journaling and Gratitude Visit over a 6-week period on a group of employees in a company. The study concluded that there was no difference in the success of gratitude interventions in organizations with higher or lower climate.
“However, there are indications that the intervention can have a faster effect on organizations with a higher climate,” said Chrysan who was under the mentoring of Dr. Rostiana.
Meanwhile, Dr. Rostiana shared the technicalities and methodology of Chrysan’s research.
The seminar session was closed with the presentation of certificates of appreciation from APIO for both speakers. (SC/YS/AW)
