Based on National Socioeconomic Survey done in 2012, the incidence rate of learning disabilities and disorders in children reached 2.45%, which would be 1 out 40 child that you meet daily. Difficulties in remembering, concentrating, reading, calculation, communication and language skills are some of the most common disabilities that are seen.   Learning difficulties are a form of neurobiological disorder which are often undetected in the family tree. Having a learning difficulty does not mean that the child isn’t smart, but rather he/she has one or more problems in how they learn because his/her brain has a different way to learn. These problems are often seen in the wrong light and are often misinterpreted as autism, mental retardation, deaf, blind or other behavior disorders.   Therefore, Tarumanagara University’s Faculty of Medicine will hold a National Symposium and Workshop with the topic of Exploring Learning Disabilities. It is our dream that this event could help physicians, psychologist, teachers and parents in detecting these learning difficulties especially in pre-school children.   We have invited renowned and experienced speakers such as Prof. Dr. Arief Rachman, M.Pd. from UNESCO’s National Commision, dr. Purboyo Solek, Sp.A.(K) and dr. Kristiantini Dewi, Sp.A, whom both are members of the Dyslexia Association of Indonesia. We are also honored to have Prof. Angela Fawcett from Swansea University and British Dyslexia Association to share her knowledge and insight on learning disabilities.   This event will be held at two different locations. The Symposium will be held at Tarumanagara’s Main Auditorium in its Main Building’s 3^rd Floor on 18^th February 2017. The Workshop will be held at Hermina Kemayoran Hospital on Jl.
