Furniture industry exports consisting mainly of wood and rattan is one Indonesia’s great potentials. Therefore, sustainable furniture development is essential, not only from the production process standpoint, but also marketing based on design potential. In this context, design is an element that can increase market competitiveness. Design also can create globally added values. Faculty of Art and Design Tarumanagara University (FSRD Untar), as one of the universities that run courses on the Export Furniture Design in the Interior Design Department, is quite involved and inclined to participate in advancing Indonesia’s Furniture Export Industry. Because of this, the starting point of design development naturally  will have closer links with government policies, particularly through the Ministry of Trade to encourage the generation of new designs for the export market.  In this series of activities, FSRD Untar invites the entire UNTAR academic body to jointly listen to the Minister for Trade, Mr. Gita Wiryawan the furniture exports development plan in the public lecture on Friday, September 13, 2013, at 9:00 to 11:00 pm. The public lecture will be held at the auditorium hall of the third floor of Untar Campus Main Building. There is also a furniture exhibition of various student work from the Faculty of Art and Design held on September 12-16 located on the first floor of Main Building Campus Untar.
